Planning & Assessment

Implementation planning is critical to your successful implementation and long term usage of dcTrack™. Before you start to implement, you should define your goals; what problem(s) are you trying to solve? What improvements would you like to make? How do you define success in using dcTrack™. When planning the dcTrack™ installation you will need to make a series of decisions about how you will use dcTrack™; which areas, assets, infrastructure, and connectivity of your data centre you will model in dcTrack™; what processes you will employ; and the roles and permissions of each of the designated dcTrack™ users.

Data Collection

Following the planning and assessment phase a successful dcTrack™ implementation will require data about your existing sites to be collected. This information can be obtained as part of an existing audit during an active consolidation project or from existing data sources (spreadsheets, databases etc.)

dcTrack™ is based on a standard MicrosoftSQL™ database and is open for exchange of data from existing spreadsheets and databases.
